Linguaskill @centre Identification (ID) Policy
Following section applies to @centre version and both Linguaskill General and Linguaskill Business exams.
- Candidates must have a valid ID and present for the examination. Candidates without valid ID will not be admitted to the examination.
- Ensure validity: Your ID must be valid, original, and unexpired. Without it, you might not be able to take the Linguaskill test or receive your results.
- Photo identification requirement: You will take a photo of your ID and yourself via webcam before each component. AI uses photos to track your presence during the exam.
The primary requirement is that a clear and legible ID is submitted. This is necessary to:
- Match the ID to the candidate
- Verify it against the ID presented at registration
- We recognise that some IDs (e.g. certain EU cards) include important details such as expiration dates or signatures on the reverse side. In these cases, both sides should be checked during the registration process.
Valid government-issued photo ID

- National ID card
- Swiss Ausländerausweis
- EU ID card or photographic driving licence
Important: You must use the same ID you registered with.
Important for your exam results: For the new Cambridge Linguaskill test, your ID number will appear on the certificate and the Results Verification Service website.
Linguaskill @home Identification (ID) Policy
Following section applies to @home version and both Linguaskill General and Linguaskill Business exams.
- Candidates must have a valid ID and present for the examination. Candidates without valid ID may be disqualified after the examination.
- Ensure validity: Your ID must be valid, original, and unexpired. Without it, you might not be able to take the Linguaskill test or receive your results.
- Photo identification requirement: You will take a photo of your ID and yourself via webcam before each component. AI uses photos to track your presence during the exam.
- It must be the same identity document you registered with. When prompted, either hold it close to the webcam so all details are clearly visible, keeping your fingers off any information, or upload a saved copy as a PNG or JPG file.
- Candidates can upload an ID, and where the ID is two-sided, they can combine both sides into a single file for upload. However, we strongly recommend that candidates do not upload images showing both sides together, as this can make the details difficult to read.

- Please note that it will also be displayed on the candidate’s account in Metrica.
- We recognise that some IDs (e.g. certain EU cards) include important details such as expiration dates or signatures on the reverse side. In these cases, both sides should be checked during the registration process.
- If a candidate is uploading a file instead of taking a photo of the ID, then the upload should ideally contain only one side of the ID which includes their photo, full name and ID number. This information can then be verified against the details recorded during registration.
